President Bush Returns To Midland
Submitted by Mike Conaway on January 22, 2009 - 10:53am.
This week I had the honor of accompanying former President Bush from Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland to a "Welcome Home" rally in Midland. Traveling with my old friend and one of America's greatest patriots will be a memory I cherish forever. The reception of people in the district was warm and appreciative, which stood in stark contrast to the cold temperatures and chilly sendoff in Washington, D.C.
I have faith that history will remember George Bush for what he really was - a dedicated, principled man, and a consummate public servant. There's no doubt that's how the reception felt in Midland.
You can read President Bush's remarks here.

Bush visit to Midland
I couldn't attend the event because of my son's basketball game but I took pictures earlier in the day downtown from my husband's office. It was exciting but not as exciting as meeting Mike Conaway, perchance, at the restaurant, Venetia's, after the game & event. We were visting with our good friends, the Anwars when Mr. Conaway walked up and we were politely introduced. Very nice and humble man. Thank you for being in Midland for the event and being with "the people".
